Political Leaders Want the Beaches to Open at 100 Percent Capacity

Political leaders want state officials to allow their beaches to open at a normal 100 percent capacity. This is given there is a steep decline in COVID-19 infections as more people get vaccinated. Come on! It’s way overdue. Open those beaches and let the public frolic in the sand and water with their family and friends. Get that natural Vitamin D going! Herd immunity is really the way to go to!

Political Leaders Are Eyeing Memorial Day Weekend Because of Beach Tourism

The Long Island political leaders are smart. Memorial Day Weekend is the kickoff of the beach season and merely a month away.

“The goal is to expand beach capacity to 100% by Memorial Day, it would really be a common-sense move. Especially given our high vaccination rate. Thus, the low risk of outdoor transmission and the importance of beach tourism for our local economy,” Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said.

“Also, with the infection rates going down and the vaccination rates going up, it is really the time to reopen our beaches. Moreover, they are the lifeblood of our oceanfront communities and their economies,” said Senator Todd Kaminsky.

Curran and Todd Kaminsky want Governor Andrew Cuomo and the state Health Department to repeal the 50 percent capacity rule in place since last summer. In fact, Cuomo should absolutely do that. People want to go out and meet people unrestricted to certain numbers of gatherings which is ridiculous and absurd given what we “really” know about COVID-19.

Fully Open the Beaches

There is a strong push for fully open beaches. This comes as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control has recommended that Americans who’ve received their COVID-19 shots can go outside without a mask. That is unless they’re in large gatherings. The CDC really doesn’t have a realistic grasp on the American consciousness and this ludicrous restriction that doesn’t help but hurt the public more emotionally, financially, and to the detriment of their health, ironically.

After the CDC announcement, Cuomo said the state will quickly adopt the agency’s guidance. He describes it as “liberating.” Well, that’s his opinion. A call for a 100% permanent opening in all aspects of life would be really “liberating.”
