LONG ISLAND, NY – A woman was seriously injured after a hit-and-run that occurred in Long Island left the woman in grave condition. Police are asking for assistance from the public in locating the hit-and-run driver.

As reported by Nassau County Police detectives, the incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. on October 22 on Milburn Avenue in Baldwin. The woman was walking northbound on Milburn Ave. when she was struck by a car. The driver did not stop. Instead he sped up, and took off, fleeing the scene.

As a result, the 39-year-old victim endured multiple traumatic injuries. The woman was rushed to a local hospital where she was reported to be in critical, yet stable condition.

Hit-and-Run Driver Still at Large

Furthermore, authorities believe the hit-and-run driver was in a dark-colored vehicle at the time of the incident. According to police, the vehicle is likely to have some damage to the front end of the passenger side, as well as damage to the hood. There may also be some blood on the car. However, in most cases like this, blood is one of the few things that drivers remember to clean up. It’s relatively easy to clean up blood, after all. It’s far less easy to replace a bumper quickly.

Apart from this, detectives issued a statement over the weekend reporting that the hit-and-run incident remains under investigation. In addition, police officials encourage anyone with pertinent information regarding the hit-and-run to contact Crime Stoppers as soon as possible. Crime Stoppers can be reached by calling 1-800-244-TIPS.
