Look at the crossover here! This Tesla Model Y has some of the highest scores in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests. As well as high ratings. This is all thanks to the headlights and crash prevention as well.

This is only the second time that a Tesla Model Y has been found on the IIHS list.

Of course, the last Tesla that qualified had a TSP+ with the 2019 and 2020 Model 3 version. There’s about 80 new 2021 vehicles and 2022 vehicles that have the TSP+ rating in the past year.

In order to be listed on the TSP+, the car needs to score well on several different crashworthiness tests. In which case, they would best benefit from receiving Advanced or Superior ratings for front crash prevention. The headlights themselves also need to be highly-rated.

The latest vehicle being the Tesla Model Y is only more proof that this is the way the industry is heading.

The Model Y is also worth a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Some of the ratings are decided to be proven in strength of driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front and side small overlap front, as well as head restraint tests, original side and roof strengths.

Of course, there has to be some way of telling the system that it’s ready. By which the available crash prevention involves vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations are made that much more accessible.

Not long after the small overlap front test, the engineers have been able to discover that the “driver’s survival space was maintained very well.”
