Washing your car before shipping it is one of the first steps we recommend for a seamless shipping experience!

At Long Island Car Transport, we are the best of the best in the auto shipping industry. Our team of drivers and agents is highly knowledgeable and provides top-of-the-line quality service 100% of the time. We keep your car protected at all times and maintain its safety and security no matter what type of shipping you choose. We do the hard work for you by shipping your car to wherever you need it to go, but there are a few things you could do to make the process easier. Here are some of those things:

Wash Your Car

This may seem like an unnecessary step, but we highly recommend giving your car a wash before we pick it up for shipping. A freshly washed vehicle will help you to identify any prior damage to the car such as scratches, paint chips, and discoloration. This will then make it easier for you to notice any damage that could potentially happen in transit.

Remove All Valuable Items

This includes any add-ons, such as custom stereos, DVD players, front and rear cameras, dash cameras, etc. By removing these, you eliminate the chances of theft and damage. Oftentimes thieves break into a car when they see something of value through the window. Removing all valuable items removes this enticer, keeping your car safe again.

Remove or Secure Any Loose Pieces

A loose piece in your car would be something like if you listen to the car radio and have an antenna. We suggest you remove the antenna and leave it behind, put it in the trunk, or keep it with you. Similarly, you have to fold in the rearview mirrors. This is to secure any piece of the car that could easily get hit or broken off while in transit.

Inspect Your Vehicle for Prior Damage

If you see anything be sure to take a photo and mark it on the Bill of Lading (BOL).

Check the Maintenance of Your Vehicle

We will ship your vehicle whether it is running or non-running. Either way, you need to report to us what the vehicle’s functionality is. If there are any mechanical issues (leaks, damaged battery), it may slow down the shipping process as we will have to take care of the issue for you. Either way, we will still ship it nonetheless, so there is nothing but an easier shipping process for you if you notify us in advance.

Provide an Extra Set of Keys

For the safety of your vehicle, we recommend providing our drivers with an extra set of keys. This will be beneficial because if any reason arises where the driver needs to get inside your car, they will be able to without having to force their way in.
